🟢 Youth Climate Declaration:
Sikiliza Sauti Yetu – Dunia Inaita!
Preamble
We, the youth of Kenya, representing diverse communities from Nairobi, Kwale, Isiolo, and beyond, united under the #NairoGreen initiative, stand at the frontlines of the climate crisis. As stewards of the future, we recognize the urgent need for inclusive, just, and bold climate action.
Our Vision
A sustainable, resilient Kenya where youth voices shape climate solutions, influence policy, and drive local and national environmental action.
🟢 We Declare:
- Our Right to a Healthy Environment: We affirm that access to clean air, safe water, and a stable climate is a fundamental human right.
- Youth-Led Action is Critical: Young people must be recognized and supported as key agents of change in climate mitigation and adaptation.
- Environmental Education is Essential: Climate literacy should be integrated into the education system at all levels to empower future generations.
- Equity and Justice in Climate Policy: We demand that climate policies prioritize vulnerable communities, Indigenous knowledge, and marginalized youth.
- Green Jobs for a Green Future: The transition to a sustainable economy must create green jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people.
- Government Accountability: We urge all levels of government to implement climate-related policies with transparency and include youth in decision-making processes.
🟢 Our Commitments
- To lead grassroots environmental initiatives in our communities.
- To participate in civic processes and climate dialogues.
- To hold leaders accountable and track implementation of climate promises.
- To build networks and solidarity across counties and countries for climate justice.
🟢 Our Call to Action
